A number of fellowships and scholarships are also available through the university and partner organizations to help you attain your educational goals. SIE PhD Scholarship Initiative The UA Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering offers a comprehensive, merit-based, four-year scholarship to selected PhD students. The SIE PhD Scholarship Initiative recruits the most distinguished domestic and international doctoral students and offers a competitive financial package, dedicated mentoring and professional development opportunities through engagement in world-class research, teaching and outreach. Up to three awards are made for each incoming cohort, depending on the availability of funds and the quality of applicants. Recipients are fully supported and trained to serve as the next generation of leaders in academia, industry and public service. The scholarship covers 100% of graduation tuition as well as premium costs for student health insurance offered by the UA. Each recipient is offered a full-time graduate assistantship that includes stipend, travel support for professional conferences and access to mentored research rotations. All applicants to the SIE PhD program are considered for this scholarship. Selected applicants are notified by early March each year. Teaching and Research Assistantships Graduate teaching assistantships are awarded competitively to students who demonstrate outstanding potential upon entering the SIE graduate program or to continuing graduate students making satisfactory progress toward their program objectives. Graduate research assistantships are funded through awards to individual faculty members. If you are interested in a graduate research assistantship, please contact the appropriate faculty member.
